How often do you play?

We get together once a month on Thursday evenings at 8pm, and we’d love for you to join us! All upcoming dates are shared on our social media pages, so be sure to check in and stay updated

Who can play?

Our team is open to anyone who has received a life-supporting organ transplant (heart, liver, lung, kidney, pancreas, or intestine) or a hematopoietic stem cell/bone marrow transplant from a third party. If that’s you, we’d be so happy to have you join us!

I haven’t played for a long time can I still play?

Absolutely! We welcome players of all abilities, whether you haven’t played in years or are completely new. You can join us to play competitively, just for fun, or simply to get some exercise. No matter your level, we’ll support you and help you ease back in at your own pace.

How old do I have to be to take part?

To play in The Britsh Transplant Games football tournament you have to be over 18. However, we have safeguarding in place for 16-18 year olds to take part in our training sessions.

When can I start?

You can get started once it’s safe for you to do so. We’ve found that around six months after your transplant is usually a good time, but the most important step is getting approval from your physician to make sure you’re ready. Once you have the green light, we’ll be excited to welcome you onto the team!

How can I register my interest?

It’s easy to get involved! You can reach out to us through our website or simply drop us a message via email or our Facebook page. We’d love to hear from you and help you get started.

Do I have to sign any contracts or any monthly fees?

No contracts. You’re free to come and go as you like and you’re also welcome to play with other teams. We just want you to enjoy being part of the club in whatever way works best for you.

Do you need to know my medical history?

We ask all are players to fill out medical forms and details of your next of kin for us to contact them in case of emergency. You will also need to submit medical information to enter The British Transplant Games as part of their sign up process.

What tournaments do you play in?

We take part in the annual British Transplant Games, which is always a highlight for us, and we also enjoy playing friendly matches with other transplant teams. On top of that, we get involved in charity games whenever we can; it’s a great way to come together, have fun and support good causes.

How do you get to play for national teams?

The pathway to national teams usually starts by showcasing your skills and enthusiasm at the British Transplant Games and other tournaments organised by Transplant Active. It’s a fantastic opportunity not just to compete, but to be noticed for your talent and passion. Who knows, it could open the door to representing on a national level!

What are the rules of transplant football?

The rules of transplant football can vary depending on the size of the game (5, 6, or 7-a-side), and we’ll go through everything on the day so you’re fully comfortable. One rule that’s always the same is no slide tackling. Safety comes first and we want everyone to have fun and stay safe while playing.

Are we associated with any charities?

We are associated with UHB Charity in as much as we are able to use there charitable credentials for any discounts or other gains for the club. They also promote our achievements and successes on there social media sites and sometimes through any publications.

Can you join if signed up for a transplant but not had one yet?

Absolutely! If you’re on the transplant list, you’re welcome to come to training, meet the team, and learn more about the game. While you’ll need to wait until after your transplant to play, we’d love for you to be part of the community and start getting involved now.
