I had a liver transplant in 2011 when I was just two years old. I’ve always loved football, especially after my transplant. In the early years of recovery, I would spend as much time as I could kicking a ball around the garden with my dad. It was something that made me feel normal again. As I got stronger, I began playing in Sunday league matches, which really helped me build confidence and fitness.
One of my favourite memories was my very first training session with the transplant team. It was incredible to meet people with stories similar to mine and a shared passion for football. The sense of community and understanding was something I hadn’t experienced anywhere else. Another unforgettable moment was scoring my first goal for the team during a match against Transplant Wales. The support from the team leading up to that moment made it even more special, and I celebrated that goal with pure joy.
Now that I know what’s possible in transplant football, I feel more motivated than ever. I want to keep pushing myself, improving my game, and seeing how far I can go with the team. My goal is to reach the highest level I can within transplant sport and to make the most of every opportunity that comes my way. Being part of this team has given me a new perspective and I’m excited about what the future holds.
To anyone thinking about getting involved in transplant sport, I would say just go for it. There’s honestly nothing to lose. Everyone involved is incredibly caring and welcoming, more so than in any other club I’ve been a part of. It’s not just about sport; it’s about being part of a supportive community where people genuinely understand your journey. It’s an experience I’d recommend to anyone.
